Twitter Sales

I’ve been running Twitter sales of pre-war sports and non-sports cards since 2020. Here’s some information for new buyers as to how these sales operate.

Where

To participate, you’ll need to check out the Twitter account here. While you do not need to follow the account, if you’re interested in the sales, that’s how you’ll learn when they are and see the cards available for sale.

When

While there is no set schedule, sales are generally run once or twice per month on Sunday nights starting at 8 p.m. EST. Typically, I will announce the next sale earlier in the week.

Items for Sale

Typically, anywhere from 75-100 lots are listed with a mix of sports and non-sports cards. You’ll find anything from baseball, football, and other sports to cards of historical figures and celebrities. Almost all are from pre-1940 and while some cards are a bit more expensive, the majority of the cards and lots listed are in the $10-$50 range.

Please assume that the condition of most cards is lower-grade. Additionally, while I try to capture all of a card’s particular flaws in the images posted, that is not always possible. Purchase all cards with the expectation that they are lower-grade. In the case of cards that are a bit nicer, I will try to call that out in the posts.

Buying in the Sale

To buy a card in the sale, simply reply to the post with some form of acceptance — i.e. ‘Take,’ ‘Sold,’ ‘Y,’ ‘Yes,’ ‘I’ll Take it,’ etc. Please make sure your claim is clear using one of those replies. If it is unclear and someone else makes a clear claim, that person will have the right to the card.

Please note that while it is okay to claim cards via DM, I am not able to quickly read those while proceeding with the sale. Should you make a DM claim, even if it is earlier than another, please note that you may not be given credit for the claim. I highly advise that you make claims in the post as opposed to DMs.

This is important as many cards are sold within seconds of being listed.

If you were first to claim the card, I will ‘Like’ your reply. No ‘like’ and it means that someone else claimed it first. If you win a card, I will DM you after the sale with payment instructions via Paypal.

Conflicts

Note that while Twitter accurately shows timestamps with posts 99% of the time, there are occasional hiccups. Sometimes, the order of claims may look different on the screens for other users. Please note that I will follow the timestamped claims as they appear on my page.

Additionally, Twitter sometimes does not show all replies. This may be a glitch or it may simply be because users have their comments private, which do not allow me to see them. In either event, the accepted claim must show on my screen.

Payments

All payments are via Paypal Goods & Services. While having a Paypal account helps, you can still participate if you don’t have one. You will just need either a credit card or bank account.

Discounts

While I understand it is common practice to barter in the buying and selling of cards, ALL prices listed for cards in the Twitter sales are firm. The cards always sell quickly (many within seconds of being listed) and it simply is not practical to barter over cards during the sale.

That policy also holds true for unsold cards or no matter how many cards you buy. The sales require enough work as it is and buyers have the confidence in knowing that they are receiving my best possible price on a card.

U.S. Shipping

U.S. shipping is included with all listed prices regardless of how many cards you buy.

Please note that cards are not typically mailed until 4-5 days following the sale. This is to allow for all payments to be received vs. mailing cards in batches.

International Shipping

International buyers are welcome with the following options.

Where practical, international buyers can have cards shipped via PWE (Plain white envelope) at no extra charge. Larger purchases requiring a bubble envelope can be shipped at cost (typically around $8-$10). Cards can be purchased with tracking and insurance at cost (typically between $15-$30, depending on the country).

Note that I will not be responsible for any international purchases that do not include tracking and insurance. Once it leaves the country, it is out of the hands of the USPS. I have shipped many international packages with none having been lost yet.

Please note that cards are not typically mailed until 4-5 days following the sale. This is to allow for all payments to be received vs. mailing cards in batches. Typically, all cards paid for are mailed out by Friday.
